The fastest way to Naxos
The fastest way to Naxos is Flying to Mykonos and then take a ferry to Naxos.
Once on the Airport of Mykonos, you have to go to the new port. You can go by local bus to the new port of Mykonos (ticket costs € 2.00) or by taxi (+ - € 20.00). It is only a ride of 10 minutes.
In the new port are tickets offices where you can buy tickets for a fast or slow Ferry from Mykonos to Naxos.
Do know that a "fast" ferry in Greece does not always arrive faster on Naxos. In addition, it is also considerably more expensive than a slow ferry.
There are a few ferry's which sail to Naxos. On this website, ferries.gr you can see the ferries, time of sial and the real prices. You have to choose the kind of accomodation you want. Here you choose "Seat economy". You can sit everywhere you want except first class.
A longer way from athens to naxos
Another longer route is flying to Athens (or choose another island) You can then choose from 2 options.
The port of Rafina is closer to the airport. The port in Piraeus can be reached by bus, metro or taxi. This ride takes about 1 hour.
On the website of ferries.gr you can find all possibilities and departure times and prices. This way you can plan your entire trip well. A slow Ferry tour lasts between 5 and 6 hours depending on the crowds and the season.
Tickets for the ferries can be purchased by every ticket offices near the harbor. You don't have to buy them in advance.

de snelste route naar Naxos
De snelste route naar Naxos is vliegen van Amsterdam naar Mykonos. Daar aangekomen kan je met de lokale bus ( ticket kost € 2,00) of met een taxi (+- € 20,00) naar de nieuwe haven gebracht worden. Een ritje van 10 minuten. Bij de nieuwe haven kunt u tickets voor de ferry kopen. U kunt kiezen voor een snelle of langzame Ferry van Mykonos naar Naxos. Weet wel dat een "snelle" ferry niet altijd sneller aankomt op Naxos. Daarnaast is het ook aanzienlijk duurder dan een langzame ferry.
Kijk voor uw vertrek op de website van ferries.gr om te zien welke ferry bij u aansluit qua tijd en kosten.
Op de website moet u op een moment aangeven wat voor accommodatie u wilt. Kies dan "Seat economy" u kunt gewoon overal zitten behalve in first class.

Een andere langere route is vliegen naar Athene.(of kies een ander eiland) U kunt dan kiezen uit 2 mogelijkheden.
- Vanaf de luchthaven van Athene neemt u een binnenlandse vlucht naar Naxos Airport.
- of vanaf deze luchthaven gaat u naar één van de 2 havens, Rafina of Piraeus, met de bus, metro of taxi.
De haven Rafina ligt dichter bij de luchthaven. De haven in Piraeus is te bereiken met bus, metro of taxi. Deze rit duurt ongeveer 1 uur. Een taxi rit kost u al gauw € 90,00 vanwege de hoge benzine prijzen en de tolweg.Ook deze rit duurt een uur.
Eenmaal bij de haven aangekomen kun je daar je tickets kopen bij één van de ticket bureaus. Deze zijn snel te herkennen aan de borden. Deze langzame Ferry van Athene naar Naxos duurt tussen de 5 en 6 uur afhankelijk van de drukte en het seizoen

A trip with a Ferry in Greece is a wonderful way of traveling. Especially when the weather is nice you can take a seat on the various decks on board. Perhaps you can spot some dolphins on the way.
There are various options for eating and drinking something. You have no fixed place. If you buy a ticket you can calmly state that you want economy seats. Nobody on board is paying attention to where you sit as long as it is not First class.
You can leave the suitcases down or take them upstairs. There are several shelves where you can store them.
We always let the bags stand down stairs and that works fine.
Make sure you are well on time to board the ferry because the Greek ferries strictly adhere to the sailing times.
How to do Island Hopping
When you want to go Island Hopping you have to make a plan. Where do you want to start and where to end.
Make sure you get all the information about the islands you want to visit. Do not plan a whole week on every island. Some islands are better for 2 or 3 days and others for a longer period. For example the island Mykonos and Santorini are very busy islands. You better stay there for 2 or 3 days at the most.
Must I book appartments and tickets for the ferry in advance?
We Never buy ferry tickets in advance. Tickets for the ferries can be purchased by every ticket offices on the islands. Buy them 2 or 3 days ahead. WHY? Because a ferry can be changed or there is a strike comming. Ticket offices has all the new information.
You can look the appartments or hotels up on the internet and book them for only 2 nights. If you want to stay longer you can extend your stay or perhaps you saw something better. If not you are free to go.
When you arive in the harbour there are always appartment owners to take you to their appartens. You choose whats best for you.
